Dr. Tan earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering form Michigan State University. Dr. Tan is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Biomedical Engineering at University of Tennessee. His research interests include developing magnetically driven capsule robots for single port laparoscopic surgery, wearable vision and inertial sensors for blind navigation, formal methods and mobile manipulation in assistive living environments, and wearable sensors and imaging methods for dietary assessments.
