The number average molecular weight, weight average molecular weight, molecular weight distribution, degree of branching, root mean square radius of gyration, and the hydrodynamic radius can all be obtained utilizing the various detectors on the Polymer Labs GPC-120 size exclusion chromatograph. The GPC-120 is equipped with a Precision Detector PD2040 (two angle static light scattering), Precision Detector PD2000DLS (dynamic light scattering), Viscotek 220 differential viscometer, and a Polymer Labs refractometer. Analysis with this instrument can be performed in temperatures ranging from room temperature up to 120°C in a variety of solvents. The column set installed in this instrument consists of the following four columns: Polymer Laboratories PLgel; 7.5×300 mm; 10 µm; 500, 10E3, 10E5, and 10E6 Å. The calibration range is ≈600 to 7,500,000 daltons using either PS or PMMA standards. The wide variety of detection methods allows for reliable analysis of branched polymers and for using universal calibration and triple detection.
